I love this series. I adore Davina Porter’s narration so much that I have listened to this very lengthy book four times. Yes. FOUR times.
Claire and her daughter, Brianna, have traveled to Scotland. While there, Claire enlists the help of Roger Wakefield in researching the fates of several Jacobites she knew in 1745 (though, at the time, no one else knew that little tidbit). Ultimately, Claire informs Roger and Brianna of her past – and of Brianna’s true biological father.

I watched the TV series, first season. I had read the book years ago. That made me want to read the second book. It was a little too long for my tastes, but the story is really engaging.

This took me nearly six months to finish, no joke! I would have liked this book a lot better if it was 500-600 pages shorter- so many small details thrown in that seemed unnecessary. Still, the ending left me with questions that would require me reading the third book in the series to find the answers. I doubt I'll ever muster up the energy to continue on with the series, though.

An excellent sequel to a fabulous beginning. There were so many places that I said to myself "One more chapter and then to bed." only to HAVE to continue into the wee hours.
