The Witches is one of my favorite Roald Dahl books. As a little kid, I was captivated by the bald, toe-less witches with long fingernails and blue saliva. As an adult, I'm still enthralled by the nameless boy and his heroic grandmother. Published over 30 years ago, this book still holds up well.

This was our fall family read aloud, and everyone enjoyed it! My kids found it interesting that the main character has no name. Off to watch the new HBO adaptation!
