More like a 3.25. A masterful novel that kept me reading and made we really feel like I was in the time of Cromwell and Henry VIII. However it was quite long and I was disappointed when I was told at about the halfway point by a friend that it’s the first in a trilogy - so I didn’t even get to read up to his beheading and in fact didn’t even get as far as I expected in the progression of queens. The writing is excellent, though. Major takeaways from this historical fiction:
