I am clearly in the minority on this book. I wanted to love it, seriously. I got about 100 pages in last night when I gave up in disgust.
I just have one question - what good is reading a fabulous story that gives an interesting perspective on a historical character is you CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHO THE AUTHOR IS REFERRING TO? I know I'm not the only one having this problem with the book. I read, re-read and re-read again over certain paragraphs and I'm STILL not sure who the author was referring to.

I don't always have the greatest luck with liking the Booker Prize winners, and Wolf Hall is no exception. I could only give it three stars because Mantel's use of the first person (Cromwell himself) was just annoying. I did finally get used to it, but the voice made me less able to focus on the story itself.
