I wish I'd read this one as part of class, because there's so much to talk about, so many layers. It's obviously different from the show for some reasons, but it's crazy to see how Atwood's stretch of a dystopian future based off the current state of the 80s is so believable for a future based off the current state of the '10s. Honestly, it might be more believable now.

Worth the reread in light of present political climate. Also interesting to read now (as opposed to the first read in my early twenties) in light of infertility and post-academic life.
What a strange, disturbing story. I went back and forth between being riveted and being horrified. I wasn't a fan of the ending, and the "historical" notes at the end made the whole thing even more of a head-scratcher.
