Loved it...but can't deal with the lack of an ending for Offred. I'm a person who needs clear endings. Great book but got notched down one level for the ending issue. Glad the series is continuing the story!

It's weird, and somewhat troubling, to think that I read this book nearly 30 years after it was first published and yet I found its setting plausible and not-at-all far-fetched.

I distinctly remember reading this novel for the second time during the final weeks of the 2004 presidential election, reading about Gilead and feeling this abject terror Atwood's future dystopia was about to fall upon us. The Biblical references may be unsubtle, but they serve to show what can happen when religion and government combine to subvert the free will of the people.

This book is surprisingly fantastic. I wouldn't think I'd want to read something that could be described as feminist post-apocalyptic science fiction but I did and I loved every second of it. Read it, it's good!
