I always enjoy returning to Patricia Brigg's urban fantasy world, and Anna is one of my favorite characters. I like Charles too, mostly, as well as their relationship. I found parts of this story really interesting and kinda creepy to read about shortly before bed (scary fae coming in disguise to replace your sweet children with something evil? aggh!). I love Anna & Charles. I like their supportive relationship, I like how we get to see from both of their perspectives. I like how they are always learning about each other and keep coming home to each other.
I also like how their story often takes us to new cities and I get to learn about new stuff sometimes (like horses and horse breeding, in this case). This installment feels very beginning-of-a-new-story-arc - the Fae are letting out some nasty critters to mess with the humans it seems - and ...more

This was phenomenal. I loved it. The stories are so well created and done.
For some reason, after reading through chapter one it’s so hard to put this down. This series of books shows how well her writing has progressed from the first Mercy book to now.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good fantasy book. I adore the premise and the writing.

Charles and Anna travel to Arizona to visit an old friend who is dying and to pick out a horse for Anna. However, things aren't quite that straight forward and they end up battling a fae who has been preying on humans. Another great read from a fantastic series on werewolves.
