This is a wonderful book! Lamott teaches writing classes, and this is basically her class between covers. She gives great advice, and helps to demystify and de-scarify the writing process. Plus it's laugh-out-loud funny at times. A friend called this a "generous" book, and I agree - she doesn't hold back from sharing things that reveal her weaknesses, and it all helps the reader to feel as if "I can do this!"

I've read this book through three times now, and I must say that I love the stories, the style, and the little snippets of guidance Anne Lamott gives. Well worth reading as a writer, as a teacher, or as a person who wants to think about their mental processes. Also, hysterical!
