Well, the five stars are what I thought when I was 12. I'm not sure I've read it again since I was 21 or so and I wonder what I'd think now. For instance, I recently read a reference to homosexual concerns in this novel, and I know that went right over my head when I was 12. I think this is definitely a novel people should read sometime between the ages of 12 and 20, not so sure about later.

I didn't really like this book. maybe because I read it as an adult. I might have understood the main character better if I had been closer to his age. I don't get why Holden did what he did ... may be one of those books I need to read a critic to understand the reasoning.
