I wish I would have read this as a teen. I feel I read it too late. I know it's a brilliant classic but I could only work up to a meh when reading it. I'm too old for it maybe.

Even better than I remembered. I don't know why they assign it to teenagers, as teenagers are unlikely to recognize the quintessential teenageriness of Holden's internal drama. Learning that Salinger served in the worst parts of WWII goes a very long way towards explaining his views on humanity.
