In my quest to find light summer reading last summer, my roommate told me to read Sex and the City by the pool. I truly wish there were an option for no stars. The book suffers from a complete lack of charm and is so self-consciously "provocative" that stories of drugs and fashion and whatever else become something to induce eye rolling. Not even worth the two hours it took to read it.

I am a huge fan of HBO's Sex in the City, so I bought all of Bushnell's books. This is one case (of very few) that I actually prefer the on-screen version to the book. I have her other books, too, but they keep getting shuffled to the bottom of my TBR pile because I was not that impressed with this one.

I read this without having seen the show, and it was just a fun, light read about women whose lives are utterly different from mine.
