Yup, this is on my DNF (did not finish) shelf. I couldn't put myself through the torture. I gave it a chance -- nine whole chapters! Enough to be introduced to the main players, see the playroom, and survive the first sex scene.

I read enough.

There isn't much I can add onto what's already been said so eloquently by others (here & here). I didn't find this book sexy at all, and the Twilight parallels were annoying. I felt as if I was getting beat over the head with the grey references: Christian

I will say that I did not finish this book. My friends wouldn't stop harassing me about reading it and I finally caved because one of them gave me her copy. I was so bored by the storyline and kept expecting it to get better. Blah. The sex parts. Boring. The writing. Terrible. I will usually finish a book just in case it gets better, but I just couldn't do it. ...more

Oh yes, I went there. Not as bad as I thought it would be... in fact, I am wanting to find out what happens to the characters in the next book. I know this was written as Twilight fanfiction originally, so I am hyperaware of all the parallels in the novel.

Eh. This book was repetitive. The words/pharases the author used (sated, fifty shades of ..., biting my lip) and the theme tiring. I read this to see what the hype was all about and I was disappointed.

I knew this book was going to be bad. I mean, it started life as poorly written Twilight fan fiction for crying out loud. And it ended being published as poorly written creepy porn. Now, a zillion people read this book and I generally say anything that gets people reading is a good thing. Except this. This is not a good thing. At all. In any way shape or form. But, E.L. James is laughing all the way to the bank so good on her.

If you need me, I'll be in the cold shower. :D Onto the second book to find out where the story goes from here. Because, it's ALL about the story line, right? ...more

I had to do it, I had to read what everyone was talking about. My review? Meh.
