Well-paced, excellent characterization. Loved reading the story from the viewpoint of the three views of Libby, Patty, and Ben, the present and that one day in the past when everything changed.
3.5 stars. I expected it to be as glib, disappointing, and excessively disturbing as Gone Girl, but I was pleasantly surprised. The language was vibrant, the writing was solid, and the story was engaging - though it felt a bit superficial and wrapped up a little too neatly.
Although I love Gillian Flynn's work, this was not my favorite. While her other books are easy to get lost in because they feel so real, I did not find this story as believable. Just couldn't get into it overall.
