not as good as sharp objects, but still quality. this one disturbed me a lot more than i expected - maybe it was all the cow stuff. i liked libby, a lot more than i thought. maybe because her flaws are kind of really relatable.
so a massacre happens, kind of like "in cold blood" - except one kid escapes. "baby libby day" loses a few toes, but survives - if you can call it that. her brother is sent to jail for the crimes, and libby just wants to make easy money and not think.

What I liked about the book is that Libby is not a likable character. She starts off unwanted, she wanders through life unloved, and she doesn't end up happily ever after. She leads a small life that was made large because of a tragedy. Yet, I still hoped for her.

This was not as gross or scary or creepy as I'd expect from Gillian Flynn, but it was engaging enough to get me through commuting and to make me sad when my typical way of listening to audiobooks as I commute failed me.

Good story overall. But I just don't like Flynn's writing style and character development.
