When I started reading Mystic City I wasn't thinking I would be thrust into a futuristic New York City - so after being initially taken by surprise, I settled into a story which, other than some fundamental changes, could easily reflect things happening during our own time.

I really liked the first 75% of this story, and then the battle/climax was poorly written and I was disappointed. The characters were interesting, but the ending felt contrived.

Interesting world and I liked the magic elements, but the characters were a little flat and there were to may clothes and food descriptions for my liking.
