What Members Thought

I myself do not think this book is a mystery/detective story, although it was widely discussed as such. I'd term it more a coming-of-age novel, so it's unusual that I liked it since I have grown so heartily sick of them. However, with a protagonist-narrator who is autistic/Asperger's syndrome (he appears to have aspects of both varieties), this was far more compelling than the usual "Gosh, grownups don't know everything and sometimes do bad things" novel. I love the voice Mark Haddon brings to life here. It is so innocent throughout all the intense situations Christopher is involved in. I've read a few books in which characters have autism or some form of it, but Curious Incident surpasses them all.
