Ok that was a fun read. The whodunnit part wasn’t exactly a mystery but still it was a rollicking good time.

I liked this a fair bit. I thought the premise was interesting and Abigail is a relatable character. I do think that it suffered a wee bit from the fact that it was written for TV. I would definitely read more though.

Doctor Who meets Sherlock!!

I listened to this on audiobook, but I didn't like most of the voices that the narrator used... especially the tone she used for Jackaby! With Jackaby's character she tended to enunciate a lot of consonants on the ends of words... d's, t's, and most awful of all was the "k" on the end of Abigail Rook's last name. This was exactly like reading a Doctor Who episode! I was so sucked in from the opening right through the last page. Super easy read that can be finished in one sitting easy-peasy. I read this one as an audiobook and the narration was 👨‍🍳💋. If historical supernatural thriller is your jam check this out for sure!

I kind of fell for Abigail Rook and Jackaby, which surprised me. Holmes-ish and supernatural and sassy, the mystery itself kept me reading and I ended wanting to see what happened next. Hopefully, the next book is just as enthralling!

Quirky mystery that felt very much like Sherlock Holmes with a supernatural twist. Even though the mystery itself was pretty weak, I loved the charming characters and the world they inhabited. I'm excited to read the next one. ...more

I enjoyed this way more than I do watching an episode of Sherlock and Doctor Who tbh
