I was more interested in the H.H. Holmes storyline rather than the stuff about the building of the "White City" for the Chicago's World Fair, even though there was some connection between the two. Definitely a fascinating book! I've wanted to read this for so long, mostly because of the HH Holmes backstory and now I've learned so much more about the Chicago World's Fair and how much of our present-day technology and products originated during that time. But Holmes is such a twisted shadow over the city during that time, and it makes you realize the more you learn - even about the details of the fair - nothing is ever perfect.

I listened to this book on CD and it took me forever. Couldn't get into it...not at all what I was expecting.
