What Members Thought

So far, this book is HELLA boring and I do not like the narrator, who reads like a modern day 14 year old rather than a 21 year old from the 1940s (i.e., extremely immature). But it gets very good reviews, so I'm going to hang in there a little longer and see if it gets interesting.

2.5 stars. This book has been talked up for so long I think I had too high of expectations. It took me awhile to get into the story (I picked it up two different times before actually finishing it). It was dark and depressing-the main character is tortured the first half of the book. I can't believe it's considered YA-it's pretty heavy and violent. I didn't want this book to end. The friendship between Queenie and Maddie is lovely and they deserved all the happiness. The end was fully satisfying.
