What Members Thought

Between the unreliable narrator, the characters' name changes and the misdirections added by the author, I found myself flipping back and forth to figure out what what happening, when and to whom. I suspect that much of the confusion was intentional because it was told from the point of view of two young women, caught in the midst of WWII and behind the enemy's lines in occupied France. This was an extraordinary book. I had to put it down multiple times for all the sobbing I was doing. I can't recall the last time a book affected me so deeply.

Very good. I'm glad I broke my ban on WWII books for this one. Great portrait of a friendship and of heroism. Also it was a nice and twisty spy book.
