What Members Thought

Before reading this novel, Emma was the favorite among my "five starred" Austen novels, but now it's most definitely Persuasion. It was a thoroughly satisfying read, more elegant and subtler than any of her other works, and much quicker to get through as well. The novel looks closely at class rigidity and the role persuasion plays in the lives of Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth.
