This book started out great. It was fun and exciting and I was having a great time reading it. Then it just plummeted. The middle dragged on for what seemed like forever. Q really started to get on my nerves with his obsession with Margo. The fact that he dragged his friends into his obsession and would actually get mad at them if they wanted to do or talk about something else really pissed me off. God forbid they have their own lives.

Maybe I should not have read this fairly recently after "Looking for Alaska" because it is, as even the author himself admits, pretty much the same story. I did not like Quentin and I did not like Margo.

The Fault in Our Stars so impressed me, but my hopes weren't high going into this book. About 3/4's in and I still can't make myself finish this-- don't want to waste my time any more. Margo annoys me and seems very full of herself. Q is okay, his friends Radar and Ben made me laugh, especially the prom scenes and the beer sword, but I can't take any more of this book that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Just find Margo already; why does she have to make it so complicated?? I've only re

Well, I obviously liked this one, since I gave it a 4. But not a 5, because Green has traveled this literary road before, with similar characters and situations. Because I'm a fan of Green 's larger themes, I enjoyed the book. But it's not the only story that can be told--and that's why if someone reads Green's novels, she will find more new stuff in Looking for Alaska (written before Paper Towns) and especially in The Fault in our Stars.

In the style of Quentin:
1. I am too old to fully appreciate the teenage angst and deep meanings I'm supposed to feel while reading this.
2. Margo, while meant to be this legendary character (evident from all the Margo Roth Spiegelman references) is really just an extremely self centered brat.
So this is an adventure story taking place at the end of the character's senior year of high school. First with Margo and Quentin during a night of stunts orchestrated by Margo to get even with those who wro ...more

Entertaining but not great. Honestly, it was so similar to Looking for Alaska that I probably won't remember this one in detail or be able to distinguish between the two in a few months.
