In the style of Quentin:
1. I am too old to fully appreciate the teenage angst and deep meanings I'm supposed to feel while reading this.
2. Margo, while meant to be this legendary character (evident from all the Margo Roth Spiegelman references) is really just an extremely self centered brat.

I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would, and I can't help but think that it might have had a stronger affect on me if I were a little younger. It started out really great, caught my attention right away. I'm not a terribly introspective person so books that make our emotional lives understandable rock my world. This one was funny and brilliant and terribly sad and all around a great read. It captured the high school "senior" experience so well that you can almost smell the insecurity and feel the friendships. It's been a long time since I read a book that I couldn't put down -- driven to find out how it ends, and enjoying the "trip".

I listened to this book on audiobook.
The narrator, Q, was pretty spot-on with his life, thoughts, and desires, but I thought his friends were a bit flat and one sided. On the other hand, when all three boys were together, I loved their word play in one-upmanship- it made me laugh every time. I didn't like Margo as much as appreciate her little clues and the process Q went to to understand them. That was really the best part of the book. ...more

Entertaining but not great. Honestly, it was so similar to Looking for Alaska that I probably won't remember this one in detail or be able to distinguish between the two in a few months.
