Very strong book, with excellent feminist teachings. Lots to say on beauty, the importance of choosing the "right" mate for oneself, standing up for your own rights and independence. Really should be required reading in middle/high school. (It might be a little racy for the middle schoolers?) ...more

While I liked the magical realism aspect well enough, I felt that the story could have been stronger without it. Decent narration. Overall great read.
