I adored this book and I think people who love fairy tales, folk tales, and fantasy will like it, too. John Connolly is a really talented writer and I was drawn in (after about page 20) and simply consumed the book in two days.

This was an interesting story about a boy who goes on an adventure to a dark and mysterious world. And it is very dark at times, let me tell you. There were a few disturbing moments in the book, but overall it was a good read. I suggest, however, that you not read it while in a down mood, because this story does not induce happiness. Too gruesome for my fairy tale sensibilities. I got through and got bored. The author was more intent on the scare and ick factor to pay attention to the simplistic story.
I have so many good things to say about this book---Harry Potter, Pan's Labrynth, and the Brothers Grimm rolled into one fantastic story. A must-read!!

Beautifully written and colorfully imagined, "The Book of Lost Things" is a modern day "Wizard of Oz" tale.
