I’m a little confused since I’d seen the movie first… but I think I liked it?

The movie is better!!

Not sure whether to rate this 3 or 4 stars... at times I even felt my attention waning. A quick read, the chapters are long, and the movie is so much different!

I've never seen the movie all the way through, although I think I've seen select scenes here and there, so I came to this book with very little knowledge of the story. I did know, of course, that there were witches in it, which is why I prioritized it - gotta finish the PopSugar Reading Challenge for this year! I loved this book and definitely let my kids run wild while I read. It completely sucked me in from the first page. All of the characters are interesting and complex, and it is a story of love and forgiveness. This book always pops up as a good fall book, but most of it takes place in summer, which I found interesting.

"Practical Magic" is where the Owens family magic truly comes full circle, blending the mystical with everyday life. Sally and Gillian’s journey of rediscovering sisterhood, healing old wounds, and finding love brought the series to a great point. A story of family, forgiveness, and courage. Reading this book after "Magic Lessons" and "The Rules of Magic" made me appreciate how beautifully Hoffman ties the threads of past and present together. The touch of realism in the magical elements feels s ...more

Finally read this one! Listened, actually, and I loved it! What a rich story of family, magic, finding your way and the love that sisters have for each other no matter what. If you haven’t read it yet, what are you waiting for?

I liked the atmosphere a lot, and the story was just fine, but I was expecting it to be a lot more...intentionally witchy. I definitely think I need to read about the aunts.
