I’m a little confused since I’d seen the movie first… but I think I liked it?
The year Jillian showed up at Sally's house, after fifteen years apart, with her dead boyfriend in the passenger seat the frog population doubled. Women were called to walk on their lawns barefoot in the moonlight and always wore blue for safekeeping. The Owens Sisters were reminded of their ancestors every time they walked by the lilac bush or ate cereal that tasted of ash and metal.

I've never seen the movie all the way through, although I think I've seen select scenes here and there, so I came to this book with very little knowledge of the story. I did know, of course, that there were witches in it, which is why I prioritized it - gotta finish the PopSugar Reading Challenge for this year! I don't know if Hoffman does this in all her books, but the narrator was so omnipotent that the characters were very well described and I felt like I knew all their backstories and motiva
