I've never seen the movie all the way through, although I think I've seen select scenes here and there, so I came to this book with very little knowledge of the story. I did know, of course, that there were witches in it, which is why I prioritized it - gotta finish the PopSugar Reading Challenge for this year! I don't know if Hoffman does this in all her books, but the narrator was so omnipotent that the characters were very well described and I felt like I knew all their backstories and motiva
