Dewey sounds like an amazing furry friend to have. This book was about more than just the cat, though: there were descriptive chapters of life in small-town northwestern Iowa, complete with bits of historical trivia about the recession of the 80's and descriptions of Dewey's special relationships with many of the town regulars who needed his friendship the most. The author also wove in information about her own life and the many battles she faced. Everything tied together beautifully. I wish we

First and foremost this is for cat lovers. If you don't like cats, don't read it. hahaha
Second, this is more than a cat book. This is a story of Myron's life and the history of Spencer, Iowa. It's not a light hearted book and has heavy parts to it.
Now to my review~ I was surprised by this book. I went into it thinking there's nothing that could fill all the pages of this book dealing with a cat, and while that was accurate, it also was kind of false too. Myron does a fantastic job showing how ...more

For animal lovers only--Dewey's eating habits, pooping habits, and playing habits are described in loving, fanatical detail. I love animals, though I'm really a dog person, so I didn't mind so much. This story is about Spencer, Iowa and Vicki Myron as much as it is about Dewey Readmore Books, but it's a quick read with some interesting stories told.

Overly sentimental book about a library cat in small town Iowa. But because I'm a crazy cat lady and a small town history freak, it captured my attention for the duration of the book.
