This was one of the best audio books I have ever listened to. The book is written from different viewpoints, and the audio book was done in the style where different people read the different character narrations. There is probably an actual name for that style, but I like to call it "radio drama style" even though it really isn't, because they are more like narrators. I found this book quite a page-turner - perfect for while breastfeeding! I liked how the author tells the story from several different characters points of view, which made both the white and black voices in the novel more real for me. The women in this book are incredibly strong, and I was very glad that although a white woman conceives of the project to tell the stories of black women working for whites, it is clear that "the Help" are the ones who are telling the story. I'm thisclose to being done with the audio version of this book. I'm meting it out in small doses now, trying to make it last. I love audio books, as wells as ebooks and the old-fashioned paper kind, but this is the first time I'm audio-reading something and NOT wondering how much better it must be in book form. I am astounded by how good this is - the story, the word choices, the voices. Absolutely amazing.

I devoured this book and the only thing I regret is that it took me so long to get around to reading it. The different voices were so well done and the story is so compelling. I may be one of the few people who hasn't seen the movie and I probably won't see it, because I have such vivid impressions of the characters in my head that nothing else could ever live up to them. Read the book and you'll love it.

This was on the top 10 lists in many areas and highly recommended so I finally read/listened to it. I really enjoyed reading it (listening was great since I was able to get the perceived characters voices strong and clear) and it was a well written story with great characters.
The characters are amazing and so real you feel as if you know them all by the end of the book. While in it, I sometimes felt the book dragged a bit. But when you get to the end, it all melds together so well, like a slow-cooked stew. Really rewarding. I loved this.
Worth all the buzz, a great book. Perhaps the best audio book I have ever listened to!
Quite possibly the best book i've read in years. Fantastic character development. Amazing storyline. I have ready picked it up for a second reading! I can not wait to see the movie!!!!!!
