This was one of the best audio books I have ever listened to. The book is written from different viewpoints, and the audio book was done in the style where different people read the different character narrations. There is probably an actual name for that style, but I like to call it "radio drama style" even though it really isn't, because they are more like narrators. Needless to say, I was captivated for 18 hours. Octavia Spencer reads the part of Minny, which is the icing on the cake (caramel

I could not put this book down! It was a fresh premise and I really enjoyed reading the story as told from the perspectives of the three narrators: Aibileen, Minny, and Miss Skeeter. Each one's voice was unique and I really felt like I was reading the words of three different women as the author changed narrators. I also enjoyed learning about the lives of some of the minor characters who were equally well-developed and added to the overall story. I liked the fact that the author did not shy awa

I'm fairly surprised I liked this book. Although I love To Kill a Mockingbird and Huck Finn, I avoid books written with accents/vernacular because it takes more attention from me to pay attention and understand the story. I also usually avoid books with multiple narrators because it's just so confusing... and I'd have to pay attention more.

I found this book quite a page-turner - perfect for while breastfeeding! I liked how the author tells the story from several different characters points of view, which made both the white and black voices in the novel more real for me. The women in this book are incredibly strong, and I was very glad that although a white woman conceives of the project to tell the stories of black women working for whites, it is clear that "the Help" are the ones who are telling the story. The pain and cruelty t

I'm thisclose to being done with the audio version of this book. I'm meting it out in small doses now, trying to make it last. I love audio books, as wells as ebooks and the old-fashioned paper kind, but this is the first time I'm audio-reading something and NOT wondering how much better it must be in book form. I am astounded by how good this is - the story, the word choices, the voices. Absolutely amazing.

A wonderful story! All of the characters became my "friends" and I did not want it to end. I can appreciate when an author leaves the ending up for you to decide, but I always wish they would tell what happens after. :)
I definitely recommend reading it if you have not already. ...more
