Tennessee Williams' Southern tragicomedy revolves around Big Daddy, who is celebrating his 65th birthday and dying of cancer, and his son Brick, who is an alcoholic and married to Maggie (the Cat). The play is full of dark undertones...greed, homophobia, treatment of women, addiction, aging, death, adultery, and the emotional lies which can govern relationships within families...and can be read multiple times with satisfaction. Shelves: year-2013, year-2013-bookclub

My book club decided to read Cat On A Hot Tin Roof for our July 2013 selection. I really enjoyed it and was surprised by the play. It's definitely not like the movie.

Speaking of the movie, I hate when readers want to talk about the film version instead of the print version. Drives me crazy. ...more
