It pains me to rate a Pratchett book so low. This one felt like an early draft - the bones of a great book are there, but just not developed. Pratchett's counting on our previous knowledge of Moist and Vimes and company to fill in the gaps in the writing rather than developing those characters further and showing the action. Not terrible, but disappointing.

Not as good as other Terry Pratchett. The Big Reveal thingy wasn't that big nor a revelation, so I'm pretty disappointed with this one.

Popsugar 2018 Reading Challenge: An allegory
I was prepared for this book to not hold up to Pratchett’s finest, and it doesn’t. It’s not fully polished, especially the first half. Reading that first half was a bit of a slog, and sadly light on footnotes, puns, and clever jokes on the human condition. Once the adventure actually kicked in, things picked up considerably. I love Sir Pterry. And this is a great book especially knowing that his dementia was starting while he wrote it.
