This book was a bit of a puzzlement for me. On the one hand, I enjoyed the premise and the character of

I'd give this 3.5 stars if I could.
This is an interesting conceit, the way the author has built this world up beyond what Baum did decades ago. I enjoyed reading about Amy in Kansas, and then seeing how she grew when pushed and exposed to people who saw her potential! I like the push and pull with Dorothy and Amy, although it does get frustrating here and there pace-wise. I liked other characters pretty well too - Ozma, Jellia, even Nox - and I suspect that I will either pick up the prequel com ...more

Not a terrible start for a series, but it wasn't as good as I expected it to be what with all the hype around it. I am, however, a bit intrigued to see where this is going so I will probably continue with this series. (also WHAT @ that last reveal! (view spoiler) did not see that coming at all!) I'd give this 3.75 stars.
