It was 2000 when I first read Harry Potter. My friend Super Suz recommended the series to me but I put off reading it for ages. I wasn’t into reading much young adult stuff back then and my argument for not reading them was that I wasn’t interested in reading children’s book. How book-snobbish of me.

I am possibly the only person to have worked as a YA librarian to have not read this series. I've survived this long, and I would probably have continued to survive. There are some really really great things about this series. But there are many things that are also not in my wheelhouse either. I am not a huge fan of magic, magical realism, or fantasy at all, and for sure to propel the narrative. I also don't love thrillers or mysteries, so while I liked the mundane parts of Harry settling in at

Loved it. A great introduction to an excellent series.

I read this book while listening to the audio at the same time and I while I had thought I had read the book, I really hadn't, as I found passages in the book that I had basically glanced over the first four or five times that I have read this book. I can't exactly recall what I missed, but there were quite a few portions of the book that I clearly had missed as I listened to the book. As to t ...more

This is the best series ever written, hands down.
