My husband often asks me if I'm reading anything good, and if so what the book is about; for the better part of this book, I had no idea how to answer. Even after mulling this book over for a few days, I'm still not sure I know.

Ishiguro actually packed a lot in this book from Arthurian legend to Greek Mythology, spiritual warriors, scheming monks, ogres, dragons, and just about anything else he could drum up. But while the story has some fantastical elements, at its heart the book seems to be ex ...more

I know this is an acclaimed book, and I have read reviews of people who loved it. I just didn’t get the deeper meanings. Still 3 star because the author is so good at character and setting, I just didn’t know what was happening most of the time, and it wasn’t really resolved for me.
