Absolutely lovely, though very heavy and hard to read...
I wasn't quite happy with the end, but I suppose that's war. I would have wanted to see the black market pig getting what he deserved, and I didn't. :-(

Werner is a young German longing to escape the poor mining town where he lives and where his father died. I loved this book, right from the beginning. I fell in love with Marie-Laure and her father, with Werner and Jutta. There were nice details along the way (The braille books, counting the storm drains, the radios, the carvings and birthday puzzles). I read this slowly because I didn't want to leave the story, and you can only read something for the first time, once. I enjoyed the Sea of Flames story and liked how it kept threading its' way through the book. The perspective and characters in here
