I know everyone LOVES this book but I just can't get interested in it. Partially because I am not interested in WWII fiction, partially because I just couldn't get invested in the characters or plot. I quit it about halfway through when I realized I was reading out of a feeling of obligation rather than enjoyment.

All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr. The novel centers around the lives of two families on opposing sides of the war. Beautifully written, this book is well worth the hype. It took a long time for me to trust the book not to get overly brutal, considering its setting, but a lot of the graphic writing that comes with Holocaust stories is absent, or told vaguely. Don't get me wrong, those terrible moments in the story are really awful. However, when I look back on reading this book, they will not be what is called to mind.
