I really enjoyed this book. I loved the unique perspective that having death as the narrator created. While the story, which takes place in Germany during the height of the Nazi regime, had many sad parts there were parts that held joy and even hope. The character development was outstanding and the author did a good job at keeping supporting characters from invading the story long term. Very good read! Perfect for a toasty-warm winter's night inside. :) I couldn't put this book down - this haunting tale will stay with you after you've set it down. I could see everything clearly in my mind's eye - little Liesel and her craving for books and the written word; her best friend Rudy who she would go and steal food with; the effects of the war raging on around them and affecting them and their families and neighbors. I have been waiting to read this book for a couple of years, since I was waaay down on the hold list on my digital library--finally got to read it this past week and it was very much worth the wait. Beautifully, uniquely written (narrated by death and follows a young German girl during WWII) and just amazing--loved it.
Really good story about the holocaust told from the perspective of a young girl and death himself.
This book took a bit to get into at first (it is narrated by "Death" - no surprise since that is how it starts - so a bit weird). But the story is tragically beautiful and creatively done about a German gilr in the midst of WWII. I would recommend it to anyone!

I found this slow going in the beginning but then I saw the movie and I wanted to finish the book which I got back into. This is a remarkable book although I really do see why it is not for everyone.
A ratos un poco cansada la lectura, no sé si por los detalles o por el ritmo de la historia, pero en general atrapa el personaje del narrador, Liesel es más un pretexto.
