This was a fun, fast read. The foreshadowing was pretty clumsy, so I guess pretty much every plot development before it happened. I thought the villain(s) were pretty easy to spot, as well as the meaning of shadow kissed", Lissa's specialization, the crazy teacher, St Vladimir, etc. Lissa, Rose, Dmitri, and a few others were well-drawn characters, though, with consistent behavior and motivations. I read a lot of garbage but this was truly trashy. ngl tho, I sort of loved it? could've used some gayness; maybe next time? probably not.

I did NOT expect to like this series as much as I did, despite the fact that Lara recommended it to me and she is pretty much my book taste doppelganger. I wanted something that was a fun and easy read for my weekend at the lake with the in-laws and this series definitely delivered. I devoured this book in just a couple of hours (shortly followed by the sequels) and really got into the world Richelle Mead created. I must say the book blurbs make the books sound really stupid and one-dimensional,
