I've been meaning to read this small classic fantasy novel for quite some time, but could never seem to get around to it. I finally started it for a book challenge, and although I didn't finish it in time to count for the challenge, I'd read far enough that I wanted to finish. I wasn't DESPARATE to finish, mind you. Just mildly interested. This book has some of that almost passive feeling of distance that some of the Narnia books have. Either you like that sort of storytelling, or not, I guess.

It’s been a while since I read true fantasy! This book is one of my husband’s favorites, so I figured I should give it a read at some point. I did enjoy it. There’s a lot of great, extensive world-building, with a variety of characters. At its heart it’s a coming-of-age story, as Sparrowhawk grows from an impetuous, cocky teen to a man with the weight of the world on his shoulders.
