This is one of those books that lived up to the hype. Who knew a grumpy old man would endear himself so much to the reader? Most people in my book club loved this book and it led to some great discussions.

If you ran into Ove on the street, you might rightly assume he's a bit of a grump. Orphaned as a teen after being raised mostly by his pragmatic father, Ove lived his life the way he knew best -- by knowing he was always right, and that his way was the best. Until Sonja walked onto his train like a ray of sunshine personified, and his life was never the same.

Wow. Ove just sucks you in and makes you care about him. But that ending, so sad, but yet a kernel of goodness.
