I didn't love Landline, the last Rowell book I read so wasn't sure what to expect going in. But I found this immensely readable and enjoyable. The book is divided into two types of chapters, those that are email exchanges between two women who work at a newspaper on the cusp of 2000. The women are supportive and caring of each other, but also funny and challenging each other too. Anyone who has had a BFF at work will immediately get pulled into their exchanges. I love the voices of Jennifer and Beth the most. Their friendship rings true in every word. I think I'm hooked on Rainbow Rowell. Her stories are precious in the most non-insulting, non-tweet sense of the word--they capture the fragile feelings of being young and confused and weird and alone and in love so well. Feelings you almost forgot about feeling until you read about them and then there they are, stirred up in your chest. Truth.
