I can recognize the skill and care that went into crafting six different styles of narrative, but I wasn't drawn in by the stories very much. The Sonmi tale was the most engaging, but it was a bit silly and concluded with something akin to "it was all a dream," which I always find annoying. Don't get me invested in a character and a story, then invalidate the whole story at the end!

I loved it! I read a good chunk during spring break, and my only regret is that as I was finishing up the book, I was super-busy and only had the chance to read 5 pages a night. I am having a difficult time getting into this book. I wanted to read this before the movie came out but am now reconsidering. It's not really grabbing my attention and I'm finding it difficult to remain interested. I just started chapter 2 (as of 09/10/12) and I am going to take a break for a bit and come back to it.
As of 10/02/12 I'm still on chapter 2 and I'm still having difficulties getting into this book. I'll have to put it back on the To Read/To Reread shelf and return to it someday. I'v ...more

I don't know man, either you'll love this book or you'll hate it so much because of its pretentiousness. Luckily I still find myself to like this book, even though it took me ages to finish it. The range of the stories are so vast with many interesting characters, invisible dots that connecting them. You know there is connection but what is it??? Even after finishing this book I still think about it.
