Sometimes you receive a mass-market book, and you read it, and you like it just fine. There's not much to review. It trots along, the characters are descriptive enough, the story builds and builds, and then *poof*, it up and ends! In pretty much exactly the way you expected it to end, with pretty much the exact twist you expected! Well, there was a surprise twist to the twist, I don't want to give it away, and that was nice.

The plot, minus twist, is that people in a small town in Michigan start

"Once you have a sister you never stop having her, even if you can no longer see or touch her".

I've just barely started on the audio version of a book which I've wanted to read since it came out knowing it will be hard to get through. The story of Catherine who received a call from her deceased sister Dianne touched me personally; makes me wish this were true. While this is a story of faith and moving on with life after someone close passes away,I also draw a deeper meaning. We may not receive c

A typical sweet and fast read by Mitch Albom. Not great literature with not lots of character depth, but a cute story with a cute premise and a cute ending. I did like the intertwining of Alexander Graham Bell's story within it as I love actually learning something new as a I read a book and with the inclusion of Bell's antidotes in this book, I did learn something new and it has made me want to read more about his life story too (which I know is fascinating!) Back to the storyline...with the pr ...more

I enjoyed this one. Albom's books are all mostly of the feel-good variety and this one was no different. I liked the characters and their stories. I enjoyed the story of the phone call miracle and the way it affected different people. An enjoyable, uplifting read. ...more

I love Mitch Albom, and his thought-provoking, emotional, full-of-heart stories.
Sadly, this one landed a little flat for me. Some of the characters lacked depth and connection, leaving their stories uninteresting. Sully was a great lead - I wish the book had been only about him and his tragic life. The finale didn't seem thoroughly developed and left me a bit unsatisfied. Yet Albom still knows how to pull at your heart strings. I look forward to the next feel-good book.

I'm not a big Mitch Albom fan. He does write about great thought-provoking stuff, but after a while his books all seem the same. ...more

For me this book is weaker than the earlier books of Albom. It doesn't feel genuine enough for me and it lacks of the original emotional scenes that Albom so good at. The ending is pretty decent though, hence the 3 stars from me. I hope Albom can get back on track as soon as possible.. ...more

I usually love Albom’s work but this one was just ok for me. Felt much less connection than usual.
