Reminiscent of Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next series (<3) with its bibliocentric, parallel-world-traveling heroine, but lacking the depth. The Invisible Library could really have benefitted from some more careful editing in the first third of the book: the stilted dialogue, spoken and internal, almost had me abandon the book despite the promising premise. I'm a sucker for library books. This one was just kind of... weird? It was recommended to me by a bibliophile friend who did warn me it was a kind of wild combination (vampires, elves, killer crocs, multiverse, etc) but I still don't think I was quite ready to wrap my head around all that was going on. It was mildly entertaining and intriguing, but I did have to push myself to finish it up. Just not my jam.
