This book came well reviewed from several colleagues who are also total dog people. The Art of Racing in the Rain is narrated by Enzo, who is Denny's loyal dog. Enzo is almost human except for the confines of his dog body and inability to communicate. But it is through Enzo's eyes do we hear of Denny's troubled story and we trust the narration completely. This was a sweet book and the dog voice narration was well done. My main complaint is all the racing metaphors. Denny is a race car driver, an

I expect this title to become a classic on the shelves of those who enjoy the genre of "dog-inspiration" stories. Told from the perspective of the dog, Enzo, who greatly laments his lack of opposable thumbs, The Art of Racing in the Rain will cause any dog owner to re-think her conversations with her dogs. The story drags a bit for those not enchanted with car racing and Enzo's beloved person, Danny, certainly encounters an string of bad luck that strains plausibility. Through it all you see the

I grabbed this book because a friend had read it. She did not recommend it, only said it was so sad she could not finish it. What made my ears perk up was that she did mention that the dog was the narrator. Hmmmmm interesting. So I went and got the audio from the library. I loaded it on my ipod and off I went. From the moment I hit play I was hooked. I could not stop listening. I laughed, I cried, I rejoiced. I don't know what else I can say that hasn't already been said about this book. I loved

I picked up this book at a library book sale when I was in NY. I love dogs, so of course I would love this, right? I wasn't prepared for the car racing (not my favorite), but ultimately the metaphor works in this book. Enzo, the dog, as the narrator is great.

This is a touching story told from the perspective of a dog. The story unfolds as the dog tells it and relates it to car racing. The dog's master is at the center of this intriguing storyline. Really enjoyed the way the story was narrated. Would highly recommend this...

It has been a while since I used Goodreads as it has been a while since I read this book which I was obviously reading the last time I used Goodreads. Hmmm...I am not sure I can give an adequate review. I remember that I really enjoyed this book and found it difficult to put down. I enjoyed viewing the families life from the perspective of the dog since I often assign my dogs a personality and give them a voice. I would recommend this to anyone.

I really loved this book. I thought it was beautifully told from a unique perspective. It was heartbreaking and nerve-wracking and funny and touching. I fell in love with Enzo and I'm so not a dog person at all.

A family's story of tragedy seen through the eyes of a wise, loving dog. Sweet book. Made me want to get a dog again.
