This book came well reviewed from several colleagues who are also total dog people. The Art of Racing in the Rain is narrated by Enzo, who is Denny's loyal dog. Enzo is almost human except for the confines of his dog body and inability to communicate. But it is through Enzo's eyes do we hear of Denny's troubled story and we trust the narration completely. I expect this title to become a classic on the shelves of those who enjoy the genre of "dog-inspiration" stories. Told from the perspective of the dog, Enzo, who greatly laments his lack of opposable thumbs, The Art of Racing in the Rain will cause any dog owner to re-think her conversations with her dogs. I really loved this book. I thought it was beautifully told from a unique perspective. It was heartbreaking and nerve-wracking and funny and touching. I fell in love with Enzo and I'm so not a dog person at all.

I only thought this book was ok. I liked the point of view of the dog, but I wasn't super into the story of what was happening in his owner's life. I don't own a dog...is that what I'm missing here?
