4.5 stars for this one...wow, Jonathan Safran Foer is an amazing writer! This novel was emotionally draining, but incredilbe. The basic premise is, a boy loses his father, and in an effort to remain close to him, he sets out in search to find the lock that belogs to a key he found in his father's closet. this was tortuous to get through...my first impression of hte first 75 pages was, "this doesn't sound like any 9 year-old I know..."

The book itself is composed as a visual representation of the narrative. So there's pictures scattered throughout, and the line spacing and stuff changes based on the narrator. It's really beautiful and I'm interested to see how it translates to the big screen--I've avoided the movie trailers until I could get through the book.

Found the characters of Oskar's grandparents and their storylines very annoying, but otherwise enjoyed this book!
