UPDATE REREAD 2023:
After 20 years, I reread this book for some reading challenge - and it is still very good! Moving, unbelievably heartbreaking, especially that I know more about Afghanistan situation nowadays.. So sad that this book can still be relevant after 20 years.. but also amazing how the writing feels so timeless. I just hope Hosseini will write something new soon...
