Overall, a pretty satisfying memoir-style novel, following the narrator's journey from childhood sin to adult redemption. I thought some of the plot twists were a little too telegraphed--but then again, how many options are there, really, when your plot involves ethnic minorities during an ethnic cleanse?

I put off reading this book for quite some time because I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to read it. I actually read A Thousand Splendid Suns first and what made me finally pick this book up is Hosseini's style of writing. It was sad, as I expected, but I literally could not put it down.

Great book. The first half would get 5 stars from me, couldn't put it down. The second half slowed down a little, but all in all I would recommend it highly.
